Mysteries face of man on Planet Mars

In the year 1976 on July 25th, the Viking Orbiter 1 captured a strange formation. NASA released the following message while releasing the image “The picture shows eroded mesa-like landforms. The huge rock formations in the center that resembles a human head, is by shadows giving the illusion of eyes, nose, and, mouth." Most of them suspected the human image to be an artificial structure but it was proved wrong and was discovered to be created with intelligence.

So is it true that they were life on Planet Mars before or was it just another illusion? Does this Mysterious face of a human hold any truth behind it?
