Are there truly giant rats the size of cats alive in some parts of the United States? Yes, it is true. In fact, some of these giant rats are essentially the size of small dogs. The monster rat in the picture was killed by the worker at a housing project in Brooklyn, New York.

The rat was measured to be more than 3 feet long. The maintenance worker was killed it by spearing it with a pitchfork. Could you see in your mind's eye a rat of that size crawling around in your basement? Unfortunately, intelligence said that the giant rats the size of cats is becoming more and more common and they are coming in from all over the world. A lot of people think that these are really Gambian pouched rats. Before they were banned, a lot of people like to import them into the United States as pets. But others believe that the rats are for the origin of these strange rodents.

Wherever they are coming from, they sure are scary and they appear to be spreading.

It would sound strange to hear human giving birth to animals but few womens have made it possible. A US woman has given birth to an octopus, becoming only the second human in history successfully to do so.

Ima Dumbas, from Tallahassee, Florida, gave birth to the 6lb 20z octopus at the Takeyawalletout Medical Centre following a normal labour, and is reported to be doing well, though having to be kept in a specially-salinated birthing pool.

Ms Dumbas said that her new offspring was the result of a holiday romance, adding, "these things happen. I was checking out the rockpools and I saw his dad. I'd had a few drinks, and - well, one thing led to another".

An Iranian woman gave birth to a frog in a bizarre labor in the southeastern city of Iranshahr.

Gynecologist Varasteh, who confirmed the report said the woman whose period had stopped for six months underwent a sonography in May which showed she had a cyst in her abdomen, wrote the Farsi-language daily E'temad in its Sunday's edition.

Following severe bleeding, the woman who has not been named gave birth to a live gray frog accompanied with mud.

Varasteh believes the frog larva has most likely entered and grown in the woman's body.

Other physicians argue that the larva has found its way into her body while she was swimming in a dirty pool, turning to a frog after the fetus has grown. And some specialists blame genetic disorders, saying the so-called frog has similarities with the human's fetus.

Scientists have discovered a new type of alien planet — a humid water world that is larger than Earth but smaller than Uranus.

The standard-bearer for this new class of exoplanet is called GJ 1214b, which astronomers first discovered in December 2009. New observations by NASA's Hubble Space Telescope suggest that GJ 1214b is a watery world enshrouded by a thick, steamy atmosphere.

"GJ 1214b is like no planet we know of," study lead author Zachory Berta of the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics in Cambridge, Mass., said in a statement. "A huge fraction of its mass is made up of water."
